THIRD AND FOURTH LEVEL MENUS

In two days: Donostia - San Sebastián

CONTENTS

Sea holidays

General view of the Town Hall

Day 1 (morning and noon): We should start any approach to Donostia-San Sebastián from its heart, the Old Quarter, where we can visit the Constitución Square and the Basilica of Santa María before feeling the smell of the port. The Aquarium waits for us at the end. After visiting it, we will go to the Paseo Nuevo (New Promenade) to admire the strength of the sea. At lunch time, temptations surround us. We can eat something in any of the many restaurants the Old Quarter has, or we can follow the local tradition and taste some pintxos from bar to bar.
Day 1 (afternoon and night): Hiking lovers can go on foot through La Concha Promenade or through the beach itself. The rest will take a bus to El Antiguo and go up to the hillock that crowns the Miramar Palace, a watchtower over the Bay. Going through the Ondarreta Promenade, we will reach the funicular station that ascends Mount Igeldo. Here we will enjoy the backward-looking air of the Igeldo Amusement Park while our eyes dominate the whole city. On our way down, we will follow the 'end' of the coast to see how the night falls in the Wind Comb that Eduardo Chillida created. At dinner time, it will be the moment to succumb to some of the cocina de autor (creative cuisine) masters.
Day 2 (morning and noon): Donostia's Enlargement is also known as a romantic area. We can discover the reason if we walk through its streets, starting from the Urumea River's mouth, with the Kursaal Palace, before going through the Boulevard, the Town Hall, and the Alderdi-Eder Gardens, the pretty Gipuzkoa Square, the Libertad Avenue, and the square of the Cathedral of El Buen Pastor. The city centre is a good place to do some shopping. Anyway, if you do not feel like going, we will get another view of the city from some of its singular transports (the Donosti Tour bus, the Txu-Txu Train, the ship Ciudad de San Sebastián or the launches to the Island of Santa Clara).
Day 2 (afternoon and night): We will reserve the afternoon to one of the pleasures outside the built-up area. If we are interested in art and beauty, Hernani waits for us with the Chillida-Leku Museum (consult the schedules). If we go with our family or we prefer technology, we can visit Miramón, the venue of the Science KutxaEspacio Museum. As finishing touch for these intense days, we maybe feel like going to the fronton, trying our luck in the Kursaal Casino or relaxing in some of the thalassotherapy establishments.
