Getting on a steam train, visiting an amazing science museum, greeting the fishes in the Aquarium or making an excursion through a natural park are some of the activities that we enjoy most with our families.
Gipuzkoa offers endless resources for visitors with children. Some activities, such as beach baths or the programme of workshops, tales and games organised at Mount Urgull in summer, depend on the weather. Many other are perfect at any time of the year. These are our suggestions for enjoying Gipuzkoa with children:
- For curious children: Kids willing to learn while having fun will enjoy the Basque Railway Museum (located in Azpeitia), including a route on the old steam engine train, or the educational experiments of the Kutxa Science Museum in Donostia.
- For active children: We recommend to skate on the Txuri-Urdin Ice Palace rink, have fun in the Monte Igeldo amusement park, take a bath on the beach or use the wide network of public sports facilities.
- For nature lovers: Of course, the visit to the oceanarium of Donostia’s Aquarium is essential, but you can also take a walk and discover the flora and fauna in open-air spaces like the Pagoeta Natural Park, the Plaiaundi Ecology Park (in Txingudi)…
- For the little ones: Small children will surely enjoy the many activities organised in squares and parks. The Children’s Section of the Municipal Library (at Fermín Calbetón Street in Donostia-San Sebastián), with a ‘baby library’ opened for future readers, and the traditional carousel, the Carrusel Palace 1900 installed in Alderdi-Eder, are also good ideas
