02/11/2011. The region of Debagoiena is back again with its IX Gastronomic Seminars which take place between 28 October and 11 December, an exceptional occasion to taste the season’s produce in the region.
In total, nine restaurants will participate in these seminars, preparing a menu which includes products of the season and consisting of two first courses, two half-portion second courses and dessert. To drink there will be txakoli (local white wine), cider and red Rioja Crianza. The businesses participating are Etxe Aundi, Goiko Benta and Soraluze, in Oñati; Hilarion, Hamalau and Santa Ana, in Arrasate; Lasa and Zumelaga, in Bergara and Maialde in Elgeta.
But it is not all just good food. At the same time you can get to know the origin and form of elaborating the products through guided visits to the ecological farmhouse Lapatza in Antzuola; the farmhouse Gomiztegi, where you can learn about the history of grazing land followed by a sampling of their dairy products; or a visit to Jakion, a fruit and vegetable canning industry where you can also sample the products.
Debagoiena also opens its doors to its natural and cultural heritage with interesting visits to the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, to the recently inaugurated interpretation centre of Arantzazu, to the Caves of Arrikrutz or the Salt Museum.
