The SENS IRUN 2012 initiative invites families to discover Irun and its shops through the five senses

WEBSITE BODY

Participants will discover the attraction of Irun's shops through fun activities based on touching, smelling, hearing, seeing and trying

17/07/2012. After last year’s success, the SENS IRUN route returns this summer to inform about the city’s shops, through the five senses. Participants in this pioneering initiative aimed at families can go on a two-hour trip around the city, discovering the ins and outs of some of its shops. In total, five establishments in Irun have prepared surprising leisure activities related to the senses of smell, hearing, touch, sight and taste.
The RouteThe route begins with the eyes with a visit to Unión Radio (paseo Colón, 21). There the families can enjoy a videoconference with the guide who invites them to discover the latest technologies: watching videos via intelligent TVs, deciphering QR codes…
Next will be the turn of the sense of taste thanks to MERCAIRUN, which has returned this year with a different experience. A beach bar set up in Mendibil Shopping Centre awaits the participating families with healthy, natural juices and milkshakes and some natural sweets.
Ikusi Makusi (calle Aduana, 2) will test the hearing with a hearing game in which the children have to match different sounds that they will hear in the shop.
Touch will be covered by Arantza Moda Infantil (c/ Luis Mariano, 18) with a clothes printing workshop. Here the children will have a space where they can experiment with different materials in order to paint on garments.
The route ends at Amatxi (C/ Luis Mariano) with a game of concentration that stimulates the senses. The children must associate various aromas with different colours.
The visits are in Spanish, Basque and French and cost 3€ per person. The adults who participate in the experience have one hour’s free parking in the new Plaza San Juan car park.  In addition, for every child registered, one adult can participate in the activity for free. You can register at Irun Tourist Office (Plaza Luis Mariano, 3), by telephone 943 02 07 32 or by email:  turismoirun@bidasoa-activa.com
