For centuries, Donostia-San Sebastián was reduced to the group of streets located at the foot of Mount Urgull, what we nowadays know as the Old Quarter. The 1813 fire and the demolition of the walls changed the physiognomy but not the vitalist character of this pedestrian grid.
The Old Quarter is the festive axis and the area where the people from Donostia meet, sharing 'txikitos' (small glasses of wines), 'zuritos' (small glasses of beer) and 'pintxos' from bar to bar. The Constitución Square, the churches of San Vicente and Santa María, as well as the San Telmo Museum, are singular places of this friendly area.
