Debabarrena, the land of the Lower Deba, is presented as the "Real Basque Country", since it condenses in 180 square kilometres the typical landscape variety of the Basque Country: relaxing beaches, green mountains, industrial areas, rural settings...

Besides its own charms, the most western comarca (land) in Gipuzkoa Coast is an excellent operations base to visit other close destinations. From Here, you can get to Donostia-San Sebastián in 25 minutes through the A-8 toll motorway and to Bilbao in only 35.
Beach lovers have a lot to choose from, since Debabarrena has the wildest beaches in Gipuzkoa (Siete Playas, Sakoneta), together with big reference beaches (Saturrarán, Deba). While Mutriku preserves the flavour of the fishing ports, Deba offers the elegance of a small tourist town.
While we get near the inland, diversity grows. Two narrow valleys, Lastur and Kilimon, hide the rural essences of a green landscape dotted with farmhouses. Elgoibar, Eibar (the most populated municipality) and, already inside Bizkaia, Ermua, make up a strongly urbanised area, recommendable for those interested in industrial culture, although that also allows enjoying its vitality and the mountains that surround it. The Virgin of Itziar (Deba) and the Virgin of Arrate (Eibar) protect Debabarrena from their hermitages.
